Exercise- No Longer Routine

Neil worked from home this morning, which gave me the opportunity to go to the gym while he watched Miles. Those that know me well know that I've always been a fan of exercising. I mostly like it because it lifts my mood and gives me a good old self-esteem boost. While there I ran into a friend and we got to talking about how hard it is to exercise now that we have babies. It's funny- before Miles came into my life I thought getting in a daily hour or two of exercise was tough, but I did it. Now that he's here, I'm lucky if I make it to the gym once or twice in a week. And my workouts are far from being two hours long! I've gotta find a way to make it routine again, but how? How do you do it when your husband leaves for work at five in the a.m. and you both have things that occupy your time at night? Not to mention a baby that requires your full attention 24/7. There must be a way...

So for all you single ladies (or married ladies without kids), take advantage of those long, random, any time of the day workouts; because once they're gone, you'll want 'em back! And as for you moms who've figured out how to fit in daily exercise- TELL ME YOUR SECRET!!!

Those were the days! My grandma still has hers in her basement. I wonder if she'd let me borrow it...

You should check out my friend's blog (listed as trainer momma on my blog list). She's a certified personal trainer and her entire blog is dedicated to helping mom's figure out how to work out and all kinds of stuff. She does tons of eexercise tutorials for stuff you can do at home. And she has really good EASY recipes!

It's hard. My kids go to bed at 7pm so I have been going to the gym every night at that time. I used to wake up at 6:30 and go last spring, but my husband is around then. You should find a friend that will trade babysitting with you so you can go during the day. Does your gym have a daycare? Maybe you could invest in a treadmill or eliptical for your house? It really is hard, but it gets easier when the baby gets older. Good luck!

Don't ask me, I just went shopping because nothing in my closet fits. I went in the store and they asked me what I was looking for- I said ..
"well, I just had a baby so nothing fits."
Then they asked me how old my baby was, I should I have lied, but I didn't, I said
" Uh, She is a year old."
I really planned on losing that baby weight, but I'm with you- working out is hard with kids!

it is pathetic, but I used to do the biggest loser workouuts. They have 20 minute workouts on the videos and you can add different sections to make them longer or shorter. That way you could do it while miles just plays or naps....he might even like to watch you do it. Ryan used to do parts of it with me. Working out is hard and you might just have to figure something to do at home....in the spring you will be able to throw him in the stroller and go for jog.....just a few more months!

Don't worry he is almost 6 months old. Most gyms that is how old they have to be to go. Carter loves going you will work it into your routine then. By the way you dont need to though because you look great.

I don't know Steph...I think we better get our sweats on again and stuff them with pillows and blankets and do our exercise show again. I think once we took off the layers after laughing so hard I peed my pants, we'd see that we're not doing that bad!
